Avinca provides solutions for flight schools wishing to provide high-quality ground instruction and for individual students unable to attend a regular classroom groundschool or needing special attention. Avinca's lessons are provided remotely using the latest remote teaching technology and are all interactive—not prerecorded.

Avinca's Services

Avinca offers services to flight schools and to individual student pilots. Our standard services are described below. We would welcome discussion with any flight school or student with the aim of designing, preparing and delivering customised training as required.

Services for Flight Schools

Avinca provides the following remote tutition services and, as described in the Frequently-Asked Questions, there are different ways in which the flight school can be involved.

IFR Ground Training

This course is designed provide students with the necessary information to become safe IFR pilots, with an understanding of the entire IFR system. It focuses on modern IFR technology (e.g., GPS rather than NDBs) and covers some of the less well understood aspects of IFR flying including flight in uncontrolled airspace and the differences between flying IFR in Canada and in the USA. The course is not an examination cramming session but, at its end, students have all of the information necessary to pass the Transport Canada INRAT examination.

Private Pilot Ground Training

This course provides the student with the necessary information to write Transport Canada's PPAER examination. The course is designed with the needs of a modern private pilot in mind: for example, a pilot likely to navigate using a handheld GPS and likely to use manual flight planning very infrequently.

Commercial Pilot Ground Training

This course provides the student with the necessary information to write Transport Canada's CPAER examination. The course is aimed at students with a Private Pilot Licence, possibly with an IFR rating, looking to move to a Commercial Licence. The first few lessons of the course recap some of the areas that, in the experience of the Avinca instructors, students are likely to have not fully understood at the Private Pilot level but otherwise the course assumes that the student is familiar with the Private Pilot material.

Pilot Seminars

Avinca offers a number of short seminars on topics related to aviation. A list of topics can be found by clicking here.

Services for Individual Students

Individual students who cannot get to a flight school for their ground training are encouraged to join any of the formal groundschools or seminars listed above.

In addition, private tuition can be provided by Avinca instructors to assist students who are having problems with particular parts of a groundschool. This assistance can be offered by email or, if the student feels it would be more efficient, by scheduling a private, interactive remote session.

Students interested in assistance should contact Avinca at "queries@avinca.ca".

Services for Simulator Pilots

Avinca provides courses in the basic concetps of powered flight (instruments, navigation, etc.) and in flying in the IFR system designed for simulator pilots. A description of these courses can be found by clicking here.

Simulator pilots interested in these courses should contact Avinca at "queries@avinca.ca".
